Acetyl Hexapeptide-8
Also known as: Argireline
What it is
A synthetic peptide composed of six amino acids. It is a neurotransmitter-inhibiting peptide designed to reduce the appearance of expression wrinkles.
How it works
Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 mimics the N-terminal end of the SNAP-25 protein and competes with it for a position in the SNARE complex. By destabilizing this complex, it attenuates the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that causes muscle contraction. This leads to a relaxation of facial muscles, reducing the depth of dynamic wrinkles.
