Kojic Acid
What it is
A by-product of the fermentation process of malting rice, used in the manufacturing of sake. It is an effective skin-lightening agent.
How it works
Kojic acid inhibits the function of tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for melanin production. By chelating the copper ion at the enzyme's active site, it prevents the formation of melanin, helping to fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
Benefits
- Helps to lighten visible sun damage, age spots, and scars.
- Provides antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
- Can help to treat melasma.
Pairs well with
Glycolic Acid, Vitamin C, Arbutin
